Like other employers, Lubbock County has to worry about the impact of the Affordable Care Act, otherwise known as Obamacare.  At the Lubbock County commissioners meeting, commissioners heard from Deborah Falknor of Wells Fargo Insurance Services.  After her presentation, KFYO asked Falknor if the county will be paying more for health insurance for county employees.

“Probably not, because the county already insurers 100% of the eligible population,” Falknor said.  “There is a small portion that needs to be reviewed of their personel handbook of how the county identifies a full-time employee.  If we go back and tweek that so that it is compliant with the ACA, then Lubbock County will have a small increase if any, only because of the fact that they already insure all of their eligible population.”
