Two men have been arrested in Lubbock after authorities reportedly found a large amount of illicit drugs.

Michael Gallanter and Ethan Oliver Wynne-Wade arrived at Lubbock Aero on Wednesday evening, and law enforcement searched their Piper PA28-181 aircraft.

The 48-year-old Gallanter and 31-year-old Wynne-Wade, both of San Francisco, California, have been arrested and charged with intent to distribute marijuana.

The aircraft left northern California on April 17th, flew to the Page, Arizona area to refuel, and arrived at Lubbock Aero at around 10 p.m. Wednesday to refuel.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection Air Interdiction agents met Gallanter as he deplaned at Lubbock Aero and searched the plane, along with members of the Lubbock Police Department and the LPD’s canine unit.

Authorities say they found approximately 98 bundles of marijuana, four bundles of hash, and two bundles of mushrooms containing psilocin or psilocybin in the airplane.

The penalty for the charged offense is up to 20 years in federal prison, a fine not to exceed $1 million, and a term of supervised release.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Jeffrey R. Haag is in charge of the prosecution.
