Lubbock Power and Light is warning customers of a possible phone scam.

The utility has been informed that phone calls are being made to LP&L customers demanding the customer’s credit card information, and the scam caller threatens that if the information is not surrendered, the customer’s utility services will be disconnected.

LP&L says that they do not call customers seeking credit card information, and anyone who receives a call of this type should not give any information to the scammers, and call the utility immediately at 775-2509 to report the incident.

The Lubbock Police Department is working with the utility to investigate these sham calls.
