Lubbock Police are investigating a number of robberies across the Hub City over the weekend.

On Sunday, November 3rd, officers were called to a robbery at Smokin J’s in the 4400 block of 50th Street just before 10:30 p.m.

The store clerk finished closing duties and unlocked the front door to leave. A Hispanic male suspect ran up to the door and forced his way in.

The suspect beat the clerk with an unknown object, took the store’s deposit, and left the scene.

The clerk was taken to University Medical Center with moderate injuries. No word yet on the amount of money stolen or the location or identity of the suspect.

On Sunday, the Tobacco Road store in east Lubbock was robbed at gunpoint just prior to the robbery of Smokin J’s.

Another tobacco store was robbed Saturday afternoon as well. A suspect, only described as a black male, robbed the Tobacco Express store in the 3800 block of 34th Street around 1:15 p.m. That suspect reportedly displayed a handgun, forced the clerk to open the register, then forced her into the back where he reportedly sexually assaulted her.

Lubbock Police arrested 23-year-old Zavier Allen for the robbery and sexual assault at Tobacco Express.
