Jury Selection Begins Today for Khalid Aldawsari Case

Jury selection began today in the federal trial of a man accused of gathering bomb components in Texas and the U.S. including the Dallas home of former President George W. Bush.
Saudi born Khalid Aldawsari is former chemical engineering student at Texas Tech and South Plains College and faces up to life in prison if convicted of attempted use of a weapon of mass destruction.
Before Aldawsari’s arrest, federal agents secretly searched his apartment in North Lubbock where they investigators say they found materials for bomb-making and other items such as flasks, beakers, and a hazmat suit.
He has pleaded not guilty to his charges, but court records indicate that his attorneys plan to use the insanity defense.
Aldawsari entered the U.S. legally via a student visa in 2008. He pleaded not guilty to the charge against him, and his attorneys are planning an insanity defense.
