A San Angelo man has been sentenced to nearly four years in prison following a federal child pornography conviction.

James Arthur Abney was sentenced Friday morning by U.S. District Judge Sam R. Cummings to 46 months in federal prison and 10 years of supervised release.

The sentence comes following his June 2013 guilty plea to one count of possession of child pornography.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, while the 53-year-old Abney lived in Ballinger, Texas, he reportedly used cell phones to search the internet for child pornography, and saved child pornography on his cell phones and his computer.

The investigation was conducted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations, the Ballinger Police Department, and the Runnels County Sheriff’s Office.
