A Seagraves man has been sentenced to federal prison for possessing child pornography.

Jose Fidencio Perez was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Sam R. Cummings to more than 10 years in prison, following his October 2013 guilty plea to one count of possession of prepubescent child pornography.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, the 40-year-old Perez used a file sharing program on his computer to download child pornography.

Court records show that Perez downloaded and viewed numerous videos depicting minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

The investigation was conducted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations and the Office of the Attorney General of New Mexico’s Investigations Division.
