Governor Rick Perry Among Speakers at Slain District Attorney’s Funeral

Texas Governor Rick Perry was among those that spoke at the funeral for Mike and Cynthia McLelland.

Mike McLelland, the Kaufman County District Attorney, was shot to death along with his wife Saturday in their home near Forney.

The Governor said that McLelland was aware of the dangers of his job, but was determined to “do right”.

Rick Perry also said that the death of Mark Hasse, the Kaufman County Assistant District Attorney that was gunned down in the courthouse parking lot in January, weighed heavy on the McLellands.

Both the murders of the McLellands and Hasse remain unsolved.
