The Frenship High School marching band is set to compete at the state level this November, representing the South Plains at the UIL State Marching Championships in San Antonio.

The Tiger band won the Class 6A Area A Central Championship on Saturday, October 25, at Lowery field in Lubbock, which marked the 8th time the band has won a spot in the state championships. This year is the first time the band has competed at the 6A level.

The band’s performance this year is called, “G” and is comprised of music from George Gershwin, Percy Grainger and Lady Gaga.

According to Frenship ISD, this year the Tiger band is the only state qualifier from the South Plains in any division. Frenship is one of thirty-seven Class 6A bands that will compete at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas, this November.

Frenship’s first performance will take place at 7:45 a.m. on Tuesday, November 4.

A live webcast of the competition will be available to the public.
