A man found with 100 pounds of methamphetamine hidden in a vehicle has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Felix Lopez Vasquez of Perris, California, was arrested by a DPS trooper on Interstate 40 in Carson County, Texas, just east of Amarillo, on May 13th, 2013.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, the trooper noticed that the 61-year-old Vasquez seemed unusually nervous and asked Vasquez for consent to search the vehicle.

Vasquez consented, and the trooper found 45 bundles of methamphetamine, weighing around 100 pounds, located in a storage area above the driver and passenger seats.

On Thursday, September 5th, Vasquez was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison by U.S. District Judge Mary Lou Robinson in Amarillo.
