A National Aviation Hall of Fame recipient will speak at Texas Tech this week.

Dick Rutan will speak at the Lanier Auditorium at the Texas Tech School of Law, located at 18th Street and University Avenue at 7 p.m. Thursday, September 27th.

Rutan is visiting Tech as part of the Vietnam Center and Archive Guest Lecture Series.

Rutan flew more than 325 combat missions while serving in the Air Force in Vietnam. He was also the first person to fly nonstop around the world without refueling in 1986.

His plane “Voyager” now hangs in the Smithsonian’s Air and Space Museum, and he has received the Presidential Citizen’s Medal of Honor.

Rutan is the first speaker in the series of five distinguished speakers hosted by the Vietnam Center and Archive.

Admission is free and open to the public. More information on other speakers in the series is available here.
