One person has been killed and three injured in a Tuesday morning wreck on an icy highway.

Texas DPS and Garza County Sheriff’s deputies were called to a major crash involving an 18-wheeler on U.S. Highway 84 just four miles north of Post at around 8:15 a.m.

While on the scene, law enforcement officers saw a box truck skid off the roadway into the center median.

A deputy and three bystanders went to assist the driver of the box truck, and at that point, another northbound 18-wheeler skidded into the center median and struck all four people.

One bystander that was assisting was killed, and the deputy and the other two bystanders were injured. The injured people were taken to University Medical Center in Lubbock.

Texas DPS has not yet released the names of the injured or deceased.
