Woman and Child Dead, Four Injured in Lamb County Crash
A woman and child are dead and 4 others were left injured following a head-on crash in Lamb County on Thursday, November 24th.
KAMC News reports that the crash happened a bit before 7:30 p.m. on US Highway 385, around 8 miles south of Springlake. A pickup truck, driven by 50-year-old Alma Ramos of Oklahoma City, was said to have been heading south when it began to skid and veered into the oncoming lanes.
The pickup truck crashed head-on with an SUV, driven by 55-year-old Ma De La Luz Villarreal of Hereford. Villarreal was pronounced dead at the scene.
Ramos was transported to University Medical Center with serious injuries along with 45-year-old Guadalupe Montoya of Odessa, 46-year-old Gerardo Montoya of Odessa and a 5-year-old that was in the pickup truck. An 8-year-old from the pickup truck was taken to Covenant Children's Hospital Emergency Room but was pronounced dead later that evening.
All occupants were wearing seatbelts, but Texas DPS says that a wintry mix of precipitation was falling at the time, causing the roadway to be "wet and slushy in places."
