The Texas Tech Red Raider Basketball team won a trophy this weekend.

Not only did they win, the Texas Tech Basketball team dominated this weekend in the Naismith Hall of Fame Tip Off Classic. They first beat Boston College 75-64, then they destroyed Northwestern 85-49. With Keenan Evans and Zach Smith leading the way.

Evans and Smith both made the All-Tournament team with Evans getting the MVP after scoring 54 points in the final two games of the tourney.

Seth Greenberg, a prominent college basketball writer, was heaping praise all over the Red Raiders and Evans all weekend.

The under the radar for now but not for long player of the tournament was Zhaire Smith who is the teams second leading scorer behind Keenan Evans and is shooting 70% from the field. He's also pulling down 5 boards per game and is 67% from long range.

He's not the only freshman putting in work for Chris Beard's squad, Jarret Culver and Davide Morretti are also playing valuable minutes.

The Red Raiders hope to continue this success and won't be satisfied with a 4-0 start. Coach Beard has higher expectations than a hot start. The respect will start to file in though as the wins pile up.

The Texas Tech basketball team next plays Wofford on Wednesday evening.
