On Thursday, the Lubbock Police Department will further investigate the scenes of two major vehicle accidents.

The LPD's Major Crash Investigation Unit will first visit North Loop 289 and North Slide Road at 9 a.m. to investigate the scene of a fatal accident that occurred Friday, March 15th, in which a pedestrian was struck and killed.

The unit will close all eastbound lanes of the North Loop 289 access road at North Slide for the duration of the investigation. The westbound turnaround under the overpass will also be blocked off. The closure is expected to last about three hours.

Afterwards, investigators will go to 13th Street and Slide road to map out the scene of a February 24th accident that was also fatal. All the northbound lanes of Slide Road will be diverted east onto 13th Street. That closure is expect to be from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
