Lubbock Police Apprehend Suspects In Fatal Shooting At Executive Inn
In the evening of April 13th, Lubbock Police responded to a call for reports of shots fired at Executive Inn on 44th and Ave Q. According to LPD, Jose Gonzalez, 34, was leaving the motel when he was shot in his car.
The suspects then fled the area. Gonzalez, surviving the initial attack, was able to exit his vehicle and walk into a motel room, where he was found by police with serious injuries. He was taken to University Medical Center where he later died from the gunshot wounds.

Leeroy Trevino, Jr., 18, and Michael Taylor, 33, were listed as suspects. Taylor was arrested halfway across town the following day by the Texas Anti-Gang Center Unit on charges of aggravated robbery and obstruction/retaliation. As of Monday, he remains at the Lubbock County Detention Center on a $150,000 bond.
Trevino, charged with the murder of Gonzalez, was arrested by the Lubbock Anti-Gang Unit on Wednesday morning thanks to the public identifying his whereabouts in town.
This is the second report of shots fired at this location, as LPD responded to a call in January where two individuals were found with gunshot wounds at the Executive Inn and were rushed to University Medical Center.
Whenever suspects are at large and are considered armed and dangerous, LPD warns citizens that any contact is deemed non-advisable. During events like these, anyone with information on open investigations or runaway suspects are asked to call the Crime Line at (806) 741-1000. All non-emergency concerns can be reported at (806) 775-2865.
