LPD Enforcing Traffic at These Locations This Month

In the month of October, Lubbock Police Department is performing directed traffic enforcement at select locations in the city. They hope this will limit future wrecks and collisions involving Lubbock drivers.

I know, I know, the last thing you want to see while approaching a stoplight is a cop holding up traffic letting only a few cars go by at a time. But listen, there's a reason they're out there doing this aside from making sure you, specifically, are late for work.

In a recent Facebook post from the Lubbock Police Department, they announced the groundworks for Operation Road Risk Reduction.

They include that 2024 has seen a 10% decrease in total collisions compared to last year, but their work is not even close to done.

Lubbock Crash Reports

According to LPD's 2023 Annual Report, last year saw the lowest number of crashes in the past 5 years at least. The number of fatal crashes, however, was slightly up from 2022.

The top reasons for crashes in Lubbock? Failure to control speed, failure to drive in a single lane, and backing without safety.

October 3rd and 4th
- 4th St. from the West Loop to Milwaukee Ave
- 19th St. from Frankford Ave. to Milwaukee Ave
- Milwaukee Ave. from 66th St. to Spur 327
- 82nd St. from Vicksburg Ave. to Chicago Ave
October 17th and 18th
- Slide Rd. from 58th to 69th St
- Quaker Ave. & the S. Loop
- Indiana Ave. & the S. Loop
- University Ave. & the S. Loop
