A megachurch in Frisco is in the news after its associate pastor for 17 years resigned this week.

Tony Cammarota of Stonebriar Community Church confessed to church leadership on July 7th of a "moral failure". The church emailed the congregation this week about the resignation but did not go into details about the so called "moral failure". According to the Dallas Morning News, Cammarota worked at Stonebriar Community Church for 17 years as associate pastor where more than 3,000 people attend weekly services.

While the email to the congregation did not explain any reasoning for the resignation, it did ask congregants not to speculate.

The church’s email did not describe the nature of the “moral failure” it said led to Cammarota’s removal and urged readers not to speculate about it. “And please guard against giving the Devil any foothold for more damage to our church through unnecessary speech and speculation,” it read. “This is a sad day and we don’t want the Devil making it worse through any one of us in the days ahead.”

The email and response from the church has left many asking questions about the nature of Cammarota's "moral failure". Asking people not to speculate is probably not going to work and in my opinion, the church should be more transparent with the staff and congregants.
