Wednesday on KFYO Mornings with Dave King and Matt Martin, Lubbock City Councilman Steve Massengale joined Dave and Matt to talk about the previous night's city council meeting, citizens tower, the parking garage project, impact fees, property taxes, annexation, sanctuary cities for the unborn, and more...
Braddock was asked what he thought the odds are of us seeing property tax relief soon, to which he responded, "I think the betting line is, during the regular session, that it very well may not happen." He went on to say, "It doesn't seem, right now, that the governor has a clear plan for what he wants to do about property taxes."
"The rate is only accelerating. People in central cities may see 20-25% increase in their appraisal, but even if you kept the same rate then property taxes would still be skyrocketing. So it could be a solution or a part of a solution, but no one is going to see their property taxes go down," Kronberg said.
"We're looking at things to do. But, I will tell you, I understand what you're saying, but over the time that I've looked at it, there's a lot of needs," Randy said.
"What we do is find out if the property is valued fairly or not, we take care of the protest process, gather all the information we need, meet with the LCAT appraisers, go to the appraiser review board hearings, whatever we need to take it out of the hands of the taxpayer," Adrian explained.
