Friday on KFYO Mornings with Dave King and Matt Martin, Editor of the Quorum Report Scott Braddock joined Dave and Matt to talk about the big issues being discussed in Austin this week in regards to property taxes.

"A little bit of a melt down is going on," Braddock said about the new situation down in Austin. He reminded us that the big three, being the Lieutenant Governor, the Governor, and the Speaker, came together and promised to fix school finance and your property tax situation, but that things don't seem to be going that way. "They retreated yesterday," Scott continued, explaining that they are now proposing a tax swap plan that would increase sales tax by ¢1 to buy down property taxes.

Braddock was asked what he thought the odds are of us seeing property tax relief soon, to which he responded, "I think the betting line is, during the regular session, that it very well may not happen." He went on to say, "It doesn't seem, right now, that the governor has a clear plan for what he wants to do about property taxes."

Scott also talked about current stories on the Quorum Report where they will be following the property tax situation as it unfolds, as well as talk about other legislature news including the Speaker and his blowup with gun rights activists over a bill that is most likely, as Scott said, "dead" now.
