Thursday on Lubbock's First News, State Representative Charles Perry announced his intention to run for re-election, before making a formal announcement later in the day.

Perry is the current representative of District 83. The formal announcement will take place Thursday November 14 at 12:15 p.m. at the 50 Yard Line Steakhouse.

He is described on his website as a "common sense conservative Republican." In response to a question about what he has accomplished while in office, Perry talked about successes from the first session to the current: "almost everything on that list has been checked off as success." He listed funding of the water plan, major educational reforms, voter ID, and a balanced budget, bringing a surplus after a shortfall.

Regarding what Perry hopes to accomplish through another session, he listed fiscal reforms that will help plan for future financial issues, as well as giving more focus to transportation and education. He noted there is much left to be done. He said, "last session reflects a desire to fix root issues, not just on money and symptoms..."

More information can be found on his website.
