South Plains College will offer a basic pistol course later this month.

SPC will offer the National Rifle Association Basic Pistol class on August 24th and 25th in the Law Enforcement Technology Building in Levelland.

The course runs eight to 10 hours, depending on the number of students, and includes classroom and range time.

It covers the NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; pistol parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; range rules; cleaning, and more.

Class will begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday, August 24th and will run until 5 p.m. with breaks each hour and a lunch break. Sunday’s class will be held from 2 to 5 p.m.

The cost of the course is $70 and covers the NRA Guide to the Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, and Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet. Pistols, ammunition, eye and ear protection will be provided.
