The CDC now says wearing a mask or face covering isn't a bad idea when going out into public in "particularly high transmission areas". What is a high transmission area? They don't say. They also don't say how effective masks that you make at home really are. Not even all medical experts agree on the wearing of masks.

Dr. John Thomas who appeared on my show this week warned that those who aren't used to wearing masks could touch their face more often because of the mask. It could also give people a false sense of security and they forget to social distance.

Dr. Ronny Jackson, who appeared on the show last week told us he is fine with people wearing masks, as the mask may serve as a reminder not to touch your face, but that the mask won't prevent you from getting coronavirus if you are just walking around.

So should we all be wearing masks? Maybe. But that doesn't mean the government should force citizens to do it. The Chad Hasty Show airs 8:30-11am on News/Talk 95.1 FM and 790 AM KFYO in Lubbock, TX.
