Dr. John Thomas, a Lubbock surgeon who has practiced medicine for over 20 years, joined The Chad Hasty Show on Monday to answer questions about the coronavirus pandemic. Dr. Thomas is also the founder of Operation HOPE based here in Lubbock.

Thomas discussed the steps people should take to stay healthy, how the virus is spread, whether or not we should be wearing masks, and more.

Dr. Thomas urged listeners to create safe zones around them. This includes the car, themselves, and their homes. Only put grocery and other bags in the floor board or trunk of their cars. Thomas urged listeners to wash their hands and sanitize counter tops and handles of cars.

Dr. Thomas also discussed how to handle things when the economy opens once again. His advice? Social distancing and continued use of hygiene measures.

Thomas also discussed the response to the coronavirus versus the response we have seen with previous viruses like H1N1.
