On Friday's edition of The Chad Hasty Show, U.S. Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) joined the program to share an update on the impeachment proceedings in the United States Senate.

Sen. Cruz talked about what is really behind the impeachment, and the likelihood of the ordeal being over soon, including the possibility of a conclusion being reached Friday, February 1st.

While speaking about the legitimacy of the House managers' case against President Trump, Sen Cruz said:

Their case is real simple: They hate Donald Trump with an infuriating rage that pulses through them. They've hated him since the day he was elected. They're mad, really at the American people for daring to elect President Trump, and they've been trying to impeach him since the day he got elected. A lot of the Democrats were very candid back in November 2016 calling for his impeachment then, before he'd been sworn in, before he'd done anything, before he picked up the phone to Ukraine. This, at the end of the day, had nothing to do with Ukraine. This has to do with partisan anger from the Democrats trying to overturn the last election. And, even more importantly, they're terrified...that he'll get reelected...This was a desperate effort to say "No," to the voters, "you can't vote for Donald Trump."

Cruz and Hasty talked about the senator's no.1-rated podcast, Verdict with Ted Cruz, a concise podcast created to explain the impeachment trial in a daily compact format, and Cruz's plans for the future in that arena. Verdict with Ted Cruz can be found at iTunesYouTube, Google Podcasts, Spotify, and many other locations on the web.

Also in the discussion was the prospect of Senator Bernie Sanders winning the Democratic Party's nomination for the White House, and what that may mean for the GOP in November's general election.
