37-year-old Jose Hinojosa, Jr. has been sentenced to 8 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to sexual assault of a child.

KAMC News reports that back in 2017, Hinojosa began talking with a 14-year-old girl on Facebook. It's said that he added her as a friend because he was dating her 15-year-old friend at the time.

Hinojosa then spent the next several months sending multiple messages back and forth with the girl. The girl is said to have sent sexually explicit pictures of herself.

At some point, the girl messaged Hinojosa "yeah you can come get me" from her neighbor's phone. The girl was soon after reported as a runaway.

Investigators were able to track down Hinojosa to his home in Ralls after the girl was reported as a runaway by her mother.

While talking to investigators, the girl revealed that she did have sex with Hinojosa. It allegedly began consensually, but at some point she told Hinojosa to stop, and he refused.

The mother of the girl asked Hinojosa if he knew how old the girl was. He said that he did know, and that he didn't care. He's also said to have told the mother that he was only 23.

Hinojosa received his 8 year prison sentence on Thursday, June 3rd.
