Police Arrest Lubbock man for Taking Money From Deceased Father
A Lubbock man that was wanted by the Lubbock County Sheriff's Office has been arrested. 43-year-old Daniel Lopez Jr. was initially wanted for Credit Card or Debit Card Abuse by the Lubbock County Sheriff's Office after asking the community for help in locating him.
KAMC news reported that back on October 14th a body was discovered at the intersection of East County Road 7300 and County Road 3600. The body was later identified as 70-year-old Daniel Jimenez Lopez whose remains showed signs of having been deceased at least a month.
After being identified investigators noticed that Lopez had recent bank activity that same month that did not match the time line of his death. It was noted that the latest transaction before Lopez' remains were found occurred at an ATM on October 7th, surveillance footage from the ATM was reviewed. Investigators discovered that 43-year-old Daniel Lopez Jr. had withdrawn money using his deceased fathers card. Daniel Lopez Jr. was not a legally authorized, or had any type of authority, to access the account which investigators deemed as intent to harm or defraud the account.
Daniel Lopez Jr. was arrested on Tuesday, December 20, after the Lubbock County Sheriff's Office put out a wanted notice. There is currently no word on what caused the death of Daniel Jimenez Lopez Sr. or if Daniel Lopez Jr. had any part in his death. As per the publishing of this article, Lopez Jr. remains in the Lubbock County Detention Center on bonds totaling $150,000
