Non-Candidate Rick Perry Gets Lots of Attention, Not All Positive
Even as a potential candidate, Governor Rick Perry is getting more attention from the national media than some of the candidates who have been campaigning for weeks. Some of the coverage and commentary probably will not be helpful.
And some of that commentary is coming from fellow Republicans.
For example, former congressman Tom Tancredo reminded Politico readers that Perry advocated an open border to the south, and he said Perry is not is not a true conservative. Senator Rick Santorum, a Republican candidate for president, says Perry’s opposition to same-sex marriage is weak because Perry would have state legislatures decide the issue. All this before Perry becomes a candidate.
