Secretary of Energy and former Texas Governor, Rick Perry has been added to the principals committee inside the National Security Council according to the Austin American-Statesman. The change was noted after news that Steve Bannon would be removed from the committee. Bannon serves as President Donald Trump's chief strategist.

According to the Statesman, the moves gives Secretary Perry a seat at a very important table.

Adding Perry to the NSC’s principals committee now brings the cabinet official in charge of the nation’s nuclear stockpile into the fold. The lion’s share of the Energy Department’s budget goes toward the National Nuclear Security Administration, which deals with the military application of nuclear science.

Perry along with a few other members of the Trump administration were involved in Wednesday's shakeup.
