Carlos Rodriquez, the man who admitted to murdering Zoe Campos back in 2013, has been sentenced to life in prison almost nine years after the incident took place.

Back on November 17th, 2013, Campos disappeared. She wasn't found until 2018, when her body was discovered in the backyard of a home that Rodriquez had lived at.

KAMC News reports that Campos' mother testified during Rodriquez's trial saying that even when her daughter's body was found, the family didn't have closure since Rodriquez was "still breathing, and she is not." Campos' sister said that she was angry when the body was found. "How could you keep living your life when you did something like that and you just went on not caring," she said.

The lead investigator in the case said that he was unhappy with how things were handled the first few days. He says that Campos' car should have been taken in for processing after a family member had found it three days after her disappearance. Apparently, it took three hours for police to even arrive at the scene once they reported finding the car.

Rodriquez pleaded guilty to murdering Campos on Monday, August 15th, which was the first day of his trial. The jury only deliberated for 20 minutes before coming back with a guilty verdict.

Rodriquez was sentenced to life in prison. He will be eligible for parole after serving 30 years.
