Lubbock police arrested one person Tuesday night, April 7th, 2020, for his involvement in a local robbery.

Officers responded to the Valero Gas Station in the 5000 block of Slide Road just after 10 p.m. Seventeen-year-old Avantre Fitts and another suspect had entered the gas station and tried to rob the store clerk.

The clerk was injured with a knife in the altercation, but managed to take a gun from Fitts and shoot him three times, causing both suspects to flee the scene.

EMS took the clerk to UMC for treatment, and police were able to track Fitts to Covenant Hospital, where he was apprehended. The other suspect was not located.

KAMC News now reports that the store clerk has also been arrested and identified as 19-year-old Devin Salazar. Authorities say Salazar is implicated in the March 2019 robbery of a different Valero location.
