Lubbock Man Racks Up 11 Criminal Charges Since June Arrest
A man in Lubbock has recently racked up seven new charges after being arrested by the Lubbock County Sherriff's Office. This was on top of his four existing charges from his initial arrest six months ago.
The Arrest of Romeo Thomas
Romeo Thomas, 37, was originally arrested in June of last year for having fake ID, possession of a controlled substance, and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.
Everything Lubbock describes the arrest. It was early June when Romeo and some friends were gathering at a residence. Soon, he and his brother began arguing about family issues. It was at this moment when Thomas left the group and later returned holding a firearm.
Thomas allegedly told someone in the group that "if you're gonna call the laws, I can handle that" while pressing the firearm against their forehead.
Everything Lubbock reports he then held the victim hostage for roughly six hours, barricading the door and refusing to drop the firearm. It took a separate friend to diffuse the situation and eventually free the victim.
In a separate case, Thomas broke into a trailer home where he and two others began ransacking the residence, waiving a firearm around the entire time. He stole thousands of dollars worth of tools, a birth certificate, and ID card, a printer, and more.
When he was first arrested last year, officers found between five and ten forms of ID that did no belong to him in his possession.
To this day in total, Thomas' charges include the following:
- Theft between $100 and $750 - Dec. 2024
