The suspect in an assault case who was on the loose has recently been arrested and charged with three separate felonies, including sexual assault of a university student at knifepoint.

The Discovery and Arrest of Eric Brown

40-year-old Eric Latroy Brown was arrested hours after Houston PD posted a $5,000 reward for any information leading to his arrest. Brown was charged with three separate felonies: two charges of aggravated sexual assault and one charge of aggravated robbery.

Brown was captured on Tuesday near downtown Houston after he was spotted by a citizen attempting to ride the METRORail. Officers then caught him at one of the platforms and confirmed his identity as it matched with the descriptions given by the university of Houston student victim.

University of Houston Assault Case

Eric Brown's arrest comes from the recent sexual assault case that happened on Feb. 7.

A 21-year-old university student franticly approached officers on campus around 6 p.m. to inform them that she was just assaulted in the nearby student parking garage.

The girl stated that she was cleaning out her car for an upcoming sorority event when Brown approached her. He allegedly asked for a pen, and when the girl said she didn't have one, he pushed her into the car and pulled a knife to her neck.

During the assault, he reportedly told her that he would press the knife into her jugular if she yelled for help. After the assault, Brown took her mail and stole $30 in cash before fleeing.

Shortly after this attack, Brown was approached by two officers for an entirely different reason. The officers apparently didn't know that he matched the description of the assault suspect.

Brown reportedly became combative when they questioned him, and when they ordered him to get on the floor, he charged toward them. The officers tased Brown, and a university officer was injured in the struggle.

Brown was released shortly after the altercation with police, as there was not enough evidence found to link him to the original sexual assault case.

After communication was re-established stating Brown as the primary suspect for the assault case, he was caught and arrested at the METRORail.

Eric Brown, on top of his three felony charges, received a bond set at $15 million.
