Lubbock Police Department Corporal Jay White was charged with two counts of Continuous Violence Against the Family on Wednesday, October 29, according to the department.

A series of events led to White’s arrest beginning on September 13, 2014, when officers with the Ruidoso, New Mexico Police Department arrested White for driving under the influence.

The Lubbock Police Department was notified about the arrest and another unidentified incident involving White which Ruidoso officers responded to on the same evening.

After the report, the department began an Internal Affairs investigation and placed White on paid administrative leave, according to the department.

Then on Oct 20, White’s fiancé reported incidents of domestic abuse stemming from White. LPD initiated a second investigation and subsequently arrested White.

White remains on administrative leave while both investigations are concluding.

The 42-year-old Corporal has been with LPD since 2002 and was booked into the Lubbock County Jail on October 29 with no charges or bond listed as of 9:20 p.m.
