A man in Lubbock has recently been found guilty of violating his terms after failing to register as a sex offender on top of numerous other charges. He has been sentenced to life in prison as a result.

Morales' Life Sentence

David Daniel Morales, 56, had his first run-in with the law back in 1991 when he was found guilty of sexually assaulting a 22-year-old woman, according to Everything Lubbock.

Then, 19 years later in 2010, Morales was charged with multiple DWIs and sentenced to 10 years in prison. In 2020, he was released on the condition that he register as a sex offender, which he did.

At a later time, in 2021, Morales moved in to a family member's residence without notifying the county or law enforcement. It was here where a child accused Morales of inappropriately touching them.

While other family members had confirmed this to be true, an investigation was conducted where Morales was discovered to have violated his terms of his registration by failing to notify of his residency.

Everything Lubbock also states that, since 1988, Morales was in and out of jail a total of four times. His punishment--a life sentence--was enhanced from a simple failure to register due to his prior convictions of burglary and DWI.

Morales can be considered for parole after a minimum of 15 years served in prison when he will be 71 years old. Due to his time spent in the Lubbock County Detention Center since 2021, he will receive about four and a half years of credit applied to his sentence.
