The morning of Saturday, February 12th, the body of 21-year-old Cypress Ramos was found after a fire in a storage unit, and another man says that a song told him to kill Ramos.

Jacob Coats with KFYO News previously reported that Lubbock Fire Rescue and officers with Lubbock Police responded to the fire just before 11:30 a.m. in the 2700 block of North Frankford Avenue. Later the same day, 32-year-old Allan Montemayor was identified as the suspect and arrested.

KAMC News reports that Montemayor was identified after police saw surveillance footage of him arriving at the scene in a truck. Two people were said to have been in the truck when they arrived, but Montemayor was the only one seen leaving after he locked the unit in question.

When police confronted Montemayor, he said that Ramos had approached him with a bat. Montemayor said that at that point "it was either me or him."

Montemayor also told police that he believed a song told him to kill Ramos, but he also said that Ramos heard a song telling him to do the exact opposite, to kill Montemayor. The exact details concerning what the two men might have heard remain unclear.

Montemayor remains booked in the Lubbock County Detention Center.
