Lubbock man Indicted for Live Streaming With gun on School Campus
A Lubbock man was indicted after being accused of displaying a gun outside a local area school. The Lubbock Police Department received a call on November 3rd from Cavazos Middle School administrators that two people were on a live stream outside of the school with a weapon making threats against a student. Teachers and staff at Cavazos Middle school immediately placed the campus on a type of lockdown protocol to keep everyone inside the building until police could arrive.
Cavazos also alerted parents of the situation to assure them that the threat to the school was being taken seriously and to inform them that the campus was not in danger. Once police arrived at the campus they were unable to find the suspects but were able to safely release students to their parents once the safety protocol was lifted. Police were eventually able to find and arrest both suspects seen in the live stream.
The adult suspect was identified as 18-year-old Xavier Olivarez while the identity of the other individual is being withheld due to them being a juvenile student from Coronado High School. Olivarez was charged with Exhibiting Firearms on a Campus or School bus and Terroristic Threat Against a Public Servant. As per the publishing of this article, Olivarez is currently being held in the Lubbock County Detention Center on a $55,000 bond.
