Earlier this week, a Levelland man was arrested for robbery after allegedly breaking into a business to steal a safe and other items.

Monday morning, August 23, the Hockley County Sheriff’s Office, as well as the Levelland Police Department and Fire Marshal's Office, responded to a business in the 2700 block of State Highway 114 for a burglary-in-progress.

Upon arrival, authorities found 42 year-old Timothy Garrett in the surrounding area and arrested him.

In a statement on social media, the sheriff's office says the owner of the business found Garrett inside the building and when he tried to stop him, he was assaulted. No injuries were reported.

Authorities discovered damage on an exterior wall of the building, which is how Timothy accessed the building. Timothy attempted to unlock a safe and other items. As of the writing of this article, motive for the burglary is unknown. The safe and multiple other items Timothy allegedly attempted to steal were taken as evidence. An investigation into this incident is ongoing.

Garrett was arrested for robbery, a 2nd degree felony, and transported to the Hockley County Detention Center the next day.
