On the Tuesday edition of The Chad Hasty Show, Glenn Hegar, candidate for Texas Comptroller, talked with Chad Hasty about why he decided to enter the comptroller's race.

Hegar explained that the office of Comptroller is so important because it is the largest tax-collecting organization in the state. He added that, in the Comptroller's office, customer service should come first and foremost, and that the Comptroller should also focus on being fair and not picking winners and losers.

Hegar also shared his thoughts on the performance of the current Comptroller Susan Combs. He said that he was pleased with Combs' efforts in keeping the Comptroller's office transparent and restoring purchasing power to the local communities. He added that, if he were elected, he would focus on making the Comptroller's office more streamlined and get back to focusing on the basic duties of the Comptroller.

"I want to go through the whole agency in the first 100 days from top to bottom, and I've got some ideas already, to where we can streamline that agency and make the focus really on it's core purpose. [We need to go] back to how do we deal with the tax collection, resolving issues as quickly as possible, customer service, and making sure that there is clear transparency in that agency."

In addition to streamlining the office, Hegar added that he would also like to initiate a statewide tax holiday weekend for sportsmen, since hunting and fishing are such huge interests in the state of Texas.
