Severe Weather season is here in Texas. We have already seen rain, hail, and even a few tornadoes have touched down in the Lone Star State in recent weeks. And if you aren't prepared for severe weather, this weekend is a great opportunity to get prepared while saving some money.

April 27-29th, Texans can save during the Emergency Preparation Supplies Sales Tax Holiday. This means there will be no sales taxes on many items that you will need during an emergency situation. According to the Texas Comptroller's Office, there are several items, including portable generators under $3,000 that are eligible. And this goes for purchases made in person and online.

There is no limit on the number of qualifying items you can purchase. Hurricane shutters and emergency ladders under $300 are eligible. And when it comes to items under $75, there are a ton of items that will qualify to be exempt from sales taxes. That includes things like axes, batteries, first aide kits, fire extinguishers, carbon monoxide detectors, flashlights and much more.

Some items that do not qualify include toilet paper, gloves, extension ladders, cleaning supplies, chainsaws, plywood, tents, and more.

To see a full list of items qualify and don't qualify, visit the Texas Comptroller's office here.
