2020 hasn't exactly been a great year for tourism in Lubbock, or really anywhere else to be honest, but there are signs that 2021 could look better.

In Lubbock, we haven't lost many hotels during the coronavirus pandemic, and in Downtown Lubbock, we've added a new hotel called the Cotton Court. There was one closing though that surprised many: The Embassy Suites.

The Embassy Suites, located off the South Loop, has been fenced up for months now during the coronavirus pandemic. A lack of visitors caused the hotel to cease operations earlier in the year. While the hotel had initially looked to reopen in September, their website now says the hotel will begin operations after December 31st, 2020. That means no New Year's Eve parties at the hotel.

On the hotel's website, they say the closed down is in part to help stop the spread of the coronavirus:

We're sorry, but as part of local prevention efforts, our hotel is currently closed through December 31, 2020. We are accepting reservations for future travel dates, so please feel free to book one of our many flexible rate options. We look forward to reopening our doors and welcoming you back soon! For help, please contact Guest Assistance.

After spending this past weekend at an Embassy Suites and seeing how often they clean, I think it's safe to say that once they reopen in Lubbock, you won't have to worry too much about the steps they will take to clean things clean for visitors.
