Covenant Children’s Hospital and Khols will host the Lids for Kids on Saturday, July 15th.

Lids for Kids is a community outreach giving free bicycle helmets to children ages 4 to 16. The event is come-and-go, or bring a bike and ride. Children must be present for a helmet fitting, and only one free helmet will be given per child.

Covenant Children’s has received a new grant of $24,692 from Kohl’s in a continued partnership to educate and provide awareness on health and wellness to the West Texas community.

As the region’s only level II pediatric trauma center, Covenant Children’s treats numerous preventable injuries on a regular basis, highlighting the need for an injury prevention program in the community.

Bicycle helmets are a highly effective way to prevent traumatic brain injuries among children.

Since 2005, Kohl’s has donated more than $289,000 to Covenant Children’s.

Other Covenant initiatives supported through Kohl’s include Kohl’s Healthy Heroes, Kohl’s Boot Camp for New Parents, Kohl’s Fit Kids and Kohl’s Safety Scene.

Kohl's commitment to Covenant Children’s is made possible through the Kohl's Cares® cause merchandise program. Through this initiative, Kohl’s sells $5 books and plush toys, where 100 percent of net profit benefits children’s initiatives nationwide, including hospital partnerships like this one.
