A toddler and 30-year-old man were both killed after being struck by separate vehicles on Saturday, May 22nd and Sunday, May 23rd in Lubbock.

At around 1:50 p.m. on Sunday, Lubbock County Sheriff's Deputies were called to Covenant Children's Hospital in reference to a 1-year-old that had been struck by a vehicle.

It's said that the child's mother was leaving her home in the 17000 block of FM 179 when she struck the child while backing out of the driveway. The child was taken to Children's Covenant Hospital ER where they would later be pronounced dead. This case remains under investigation by the Lubbock County Sheriff's Office.

Also on the day before, Saturday, a fatal 2-vehicle crash happened near Shallowater.

KAMC News reports that this crash happened a little bit after 7 p.m. on US Highway 84 and Farm-to-Market Road 1294. It's said a Chevrolet Traverse was driving westbound and failed to yield the right of way, crashing into a Ford F-150 that was southbound.

The driver of the Ford, 30-year-old Bryson Grant McCarty of Littlefield, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Chevy, 77-year-old Lacharotte Carlson of Anton was transported to University Medical Center in Lubbock. Their injuries and current status is unknown.
