On Tuesday U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) joined The Chad Hasty Show to discuss the latest news and politics from the U.S. capitol.

Cornyn talked about the impeachment inquiry being launched by Democrats who are clamoring for official action to be taken against President Donald Trump, the spread of Democratic candidates lining up to oppose Trump in the 2020 election, as well as the ongoing discussion surrounding mental health care.

While speaking about the budding impeachment efforts, Cornyn said,

It strikes me as a desperate act...It seems to me to be pretty thin stuff, pretty thin gruel...This is an extraordinary process, and it strikes me that this is, right now, it seems like a continuation of the effort by those who never have accepted the fact that President Trump won the election in the first place.

When Hasty asked Cornyn for his opinion about the recent New York Times story about Attorney General William Barr's requests made to foreign officials to assist the United States with investigations, Cornyn replied,

The New York Times has really given up any pretense of objectivity, they've really just become a partisan rag, and it saddens me to say that. We need some independent journalism in America where people get the facts, and not just a steady stream of opinion pieces or partisan attacks.
