
ALERT! FDA Issues Recall For Potentially Deadly Broccoli Sold In Texas
Attention Texans! It is time to double check your refrigerators.
Texans should check their refrigerators immediately for a potentially deadly product that has been recalled by the FDA in 20 states including Texas.
The FDA on January 27 upgraded its recall of Marketside Broccoli Florets sold at various Walmart locations in Texas and was also sold in other states. The FDA originally issued the recall in December for the 12-ounce bag created by Braga Fresh.
According to KVUE, bags of the broccoli florets may be contaminated with a type of bacteria called Listeria monocytogenes. Symptoms can include fever, headache, and nausea. Now that product is posing a greater risk to those who have purchased it.
How To Check If Your Broccoli Florets Are Being Recalled
According to KVUE, roughly 5900 bags of broccoli sold across 20 states are being recalled. Here's how to check if you have a bag in your refrigerator.
To identify the bags, check for a "Best if Used by" date of Dec. 10, 2024, with a UPC code of 6 81131 32884 5 on the back and a lot code of BFFG327A6 on the front.
What Does A Class 1 Recall Mean?
According to the FDA, a class 1 recall is the most serious type of recall. The FDA issues this recall when they believe using a product can lead to a serious health issues or even death.
All together there are three different categories of recalls. Class 2 recalls can cause temporary health problems while a Class 3 recall means you likely won't experience any health problems.
