This weekend, November 4th through the 6th, will be a "No Refusal Weekend" in efforts to decrease the number of accidents caused by driving under the influence. The event has been set up by Texas DPS and the Lubbock County Sherrif's Office.

According to Texas D-P-S, during the no refusal period, motorists arrested for driving while intoxicated, and served with a search warrant, will be required to submit to blood draws to determine blood alcohol content level. Also, extra officers and troopers will be patrolling Lubbock this weekend for drunken driving and speeding.

This will be a big deal for the last Texas Tech home game of the year slated for Saturday against Texas. Other associations are also promoting this to keep drivers and the public safe after a mind boggling total of  349 alcohol-related crashes in Lubbock County that resulted in 15 deaths, 47 serious injuries and 93 minor injuries just this last year.

So, stay safe and don't get behind the wheel if you've been drinking for your safety and others.
