Thursday on Lubbock's First News, Leslie Timmons, Event Coordinator of the Walk a Mile in Her Shoes fundraiser event for the Voice of Hope Rape Crisis Center, gave details on their upcoming event.

Walk a Mile in Her Shoes is an annual fundraiser during which men and others put on high heels and march together to benefit the Voice of Hope. Timmons said the purpose of the event is " to get men out to raise awareness against sexual assault. Really it's kind of a social norm change were we have men preventing rape instead of perpetrating rape."

The march will begin at the Lubbock County Courthouse Saturday, April 5. On site registration for the event will begin at 9:30 a.m., opening ceremony at 10:30 a.m., and the march begins at 10:45 a.m. Shoes for the march will be provided. There will also be an after party at the Legacy Event Center at 6:00 p.m.; this will include dinner, live music, and an auction.

Register online for the event and for various raffle prizes, or by calling Leslie Timmons at (806) 763-3232. Get more information at the Voice of Hope website.
