A Lubbock City Councilman has been appointed to the Texas Municipal Retirement System Board of Trustees Advisory Committee on Retirement Matters.

Lubbock City Councilman Victor Hernandez is one of three appointed to the Committee. Hernandez has been an attorney for over 22 years and has law degrees from Texas Tech University and the University of Texas at El Paso.  He has served terms with the Lubbock City Council from 1993 to 2004 and from 2010 to the present. He has also served as president of the Texas Association of Hispanic Municipal Officials and the national organization Hispanic Elected Local Officials.  Hernandez is a veteran of Operation Desert Shield / Desert Storm.

The other two elected to the commitee are Certified Public Accountant and Government Finance Officer for San Angelo Michael Dane and Assistant Human Resources Director for San Antonio Nikki Ramos.
