Tuesday morning, Lubbock Habitat for Humanity broke ground on the Talkington Habitat for Humanity Addition, located in northeast Lubbock at Erskine Street and Guava Avenue.

Phase One of the Talkington addition will house 22 homes. Infrastructure for the addition is being made possible with grants from the J.T. and Margaret Talkington Foundation and over $150,000 from the City of Lubbock Community Development Block Grant. Additional support is being provided by Hugo Reed and the Utility Contractors of America.

“The J. T. and Margaret Talkington Foundation is proud to partner with Lubbock Habitat,” Chairman of the Foundation Board of Directors Norton Baker said. “The establishment of the new housing addition is in a good location.”
