A new traffic signal in south Lubbock will go into full operation this week.

Beginning Tuesday, October 30th, the traffic signal at 82nd Street and Venita/Valencia Avenue will be activated.

The lights will flash yellow at 82nd Street and red for Venita/Valencia Avenue on Tuesday, and will go into full green-yellow-red operation on Wednesday, October 31st.

The traffic signal was installed mainly for emergency services to access 82nd Street from the fire station at 81st Street and Venita Avenue.

Neighborhood traffic to the north and south of 82nd Street will be able to utilize the traffic signal as well.
